Vinyl Silicone Oil

Vinyl silicone oil is a reactive silicon polymer liquid with terminal vinyl groups and is widely used in addition-cure systems such as LSR (liquid silicone rubber), HTV (high-temperature vulcanized) rubbers and RTV (room-temperature vulcanizing) adhesives & sealants.vinyl silicone oil Its vinyl groups enable efficient hydrosilylation crosslinking, suitable for heat or UV curing, and it offers excellent thermal stability, low volatility, and compatibility with a wide range of resins and fillers. It is available in a range of viscosities to meet the needs of your application.

As a main raw material for addition-molding silicone rubber, vinyl silicone fluid significantly increases the crosslinking density of finished silicone elastomers, increasing their high and low temperature resistance, lubricity and radiation resistance.vinyl silicone oil It also improves the tensile strength and resilience of the finished product, while maintaining good fluidity and isotropic elongation. The vinyl functional groups also help to stabilize the curing speed and reduce premature scorch risk under shear molding conditions.

When replaced for inert diluent, vinyl silicone fluid can accelerate the onset of addition cure by promoting faster Si-H crosslinking and reacting more rapidly with platinum catalyst than conventional non-reactive dimethyl silicone oils. This results in faster gel times and better overall processing performance for VMQ silicone rubbers.

It can also serve as a temporary plasticizer in addition-cure silicone rubbers. Its side vinyl groups wrap around silica powder filler particles and reduce their colloidal dispersing during mixing, while they also connect into the crosslink network through hydrosilylation curing to provide temporary plasticization that does not lower final cured hardness.

Vinyl silicone fluids with a low polydispersity index make sure the vinyl groups are evenly distributed on the molecular chains. This ensures a consistent crosslink density throughout the finished silicone rubber, so the final tensile strength and mechanical properties are uniform. The vinyl molecular structure also helps to keep the silicone rubber in good condition after long-term use, preventing the formation of brittle cracks and yellowing due to chemical migration. This is especially important for industrial applications involving frequent shear molding.
