SILICONE INDUSTRY OF CHINA
The upstream of the silicone industry chain involves raw materials, including methanol, industrial silicon, chloromethane, hydrogen chloride, quartz sand, etc.; the midstream involves silicone products, including silicone monomers, silicone intermediates, and silicone deep-processed products; the downstream involves applications in electronics and electrical appliances, building materials, textile printing and dyeing, automobiles, chemical and medical industries, and aerospace.

The silicone industry chain is based on upstream raw materials (such as industrial silicon and chloromethane), and through midstream monomer synthesis, intermediate preparation, and deep processing, it forms diversified products (such as silicone rubber and silicone resin), ultimately serving downstream high value-added fields. The supply of upstream raw materials and cost control (such as the recycling of chloromethane) directly affect midstream production capacity; midstream technical barriers are high, and monomer purity and deep processing performance determine product competitiveness; downstream demand grows rapidly with the development of new energy, semiconductor, biomedical, and other industries. In the future, it is necessary to focus on green production processes (reducing energy consumption), developing specialty monomers (phenyl, fluorosilicon), and expanding high-end applications (flexible electronics, aerospace), in order to break through overseas monopolies and promote domestic substitution.
